We are pleased to announce the upcoming release of the new digicard-hotel. It's been a long time in the making and we are currently tooling the new design in order to have the digicard-hotel 3.0 available from April 2024. We wanted to take this opportunity to let you know what you have to look forward to with the latest edition and to explain why the digicard-hotel is such a key part of our overall remote download solution.

Remote company card authentication

Having worked with tachograph remote download since its inception in 2010, we’ve crafted the most intelligent and reliable way to remotely authenticate company cards to ensure that tachograph downloads are completed in the most efficient way.

In order to access the DDD file from the tachograph, you need a company card, which locks the tachograph data to your company and can then be used to authorise the download process. With manual downloads you are required to take the company card to each vehicle, but with remote download this process needs to be taken care of remotely.

The digicard-hotel works to ensure that each tachograph is authenticated ready for the download to take place. Both the digicard-hotel and the Tachosys remote download device connect to a digicentral server and run their respective processes; both the authentication of the company card and the download of the tachograph file. It is within this process that we have streamlined the method of unlocking the tachograph and of retrieving the DDD file to provide a remote download solution that can be relied upon time and time again.

Whilst the majority of company card hosting is taken care of by the tachograph analysis provider, there are instances where a company will choose to host the company card locally and use the digicard-AUT to do so. To our partners, the digicard-hotel becomes the backbone from which they can support and manage numerous company cards to support thousands of fleets in their operations.

What's new with DCH03?

The new digicard-hotel comes with some significant changes both inside and out compared with its predecessor DCH02.

Greater Capacity:

• The digicard-hotel is now equipped with 32 card readers in place of the previous 20. This provides an increased capacity of 60% for a cost increase of less than 6%.

Adding Colour:

• By adding full RGB Indicator LEDs we have made everyday use and troubleshooting even easier. With different colours for status, identification and warnings, it's now easier to identify issues and locate a company card.

Smaller Footprint:

• Whilst maintaining the same front surface area, we have significantly reduced the depth of the digicard-hotel, meaning that it can now conveniently fit into rack drawers or seamlessly replace your existing DCH02.

Custom Firmware:

• We have made the move from the Linux OS to our own custom firmware. This improves security and reliability and gives us more control when making customisations and firmware updates.
