For 17 years, digicentral has been the central server solution and web platform used to manage Tachosys devices and the data they collect across the UK and Europe.

Originally developed in 2009 to manage tyre pressure data from mining vehicles in South America, digicentral has evolved significantly over the years. With the introduction of remote download in 2011, its primary role shifted towards managing the data and files collected from tachographs through the digiDL remote download product range.

From tyre pressures to tachographs

Following the introduction of remote download, digicentral quickly became an important tool for live demos at exhibitions and in customer meetings, helping us to showcase the features and functionality of our products.

As a hardware manufacturer specialising in tachograph download, we already had established partnerships with leading analysis providers. So, with the move to automated downloads, we intentionally invested in these relationships to create a seamless solution. These partners became the primary users of digicentral, using it to register devices, manage drivers, vehicles and products, troubleshoot connection issues and monitor company card expiry.

Over time, a number of fleet managers and transport operators were given direct access to digicentral, allowing them to take on some of these tasks themselves. As more customers began using it, it expanded beyond device and data management and into a lightweight fleet management tool.

This wasn't how digicentral was originally intended to be used, but as this became more common, we saw the opportunity to develop it further and better support them.

digicentral 2.0

While our focus has primarily been on expanding functionality, we felt it was time to invest in a fresh look, feel and user experience. With feedback and requests from users, and a desire to better support the way digicentral is being used, we decided it was time for digicentral 2.0. Over the past two years, our team has been working to redevelop and reimagine the platform and we are now at the point of releasing the new digicentral.

Built as a server-level install, digicentral is currently deployed on more than 20 servers across the UK and Europe. Over the coming months, our dev team will be working to roll out the new digicentral across all of these servers.
