This year marks 17 years since the creation of digicentral; our central server solution and web platform utilised around the world to manage Tachosys devices and data flow.

Originally created in 2009 to manage tyre pressure data from mining vehicles in South America, digicentral has diversified and expanded significantly over the last two decades. While our core focus has primarily been on increasing functionality, we felt it was time to invest in a fresh look, feel and user experience. Over the past two years, the Tachosys team has been working hard to redevelop and reimagine the platform.

With the introduction of remote download in 2011, digicentral’s primary purpose shifted toward managing the data and files collected from the tachograph through our remote download products. It quickly became a live demo platform at exhibitions and in customer meetings to showcase its features and functionality.

As a hardware manufacturer, we intentionally established partnerships with leading tachograph analysis providers to offer a seamless end-to-end solution. These partners were the primary users of digicentral; using it to register devices, manage drivers, vehicles, and products, troubleshoot connection issues and track company card expiries.

Over time, however, some fleet managers and transport operators began taking on more of these tasks directly, organically turning digicentral into a light-weight fleet management tool. While this wasn’t within the original scope, we recognised that this was the reality of how it was being used. So, following plenty of feedback and with a desire to better support users of digicentral, we are pleased to be releasing digicentral 2.0.

Built as a server-level install, digicentral is in place on more than 20 servers across the UK and throughout the EU. Each of our resellers uses digicentral and some give user access to their customers as a way of encouraging them to get the most out of their Tachosys products. The Tachosys dev team will be working over the next few months to ensure that the new digicentral is delivered to all servers.

As with all development projects, the work doesn’t stop at release - this is just the beginning.
